Becchi Transition Program

 Year 6 to Year 7

We make it our priority to ease your son’s anxiety when moving from Primary to Secondary school. To help your son transition to ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ, we have developed a program specifically for Year 6 boys who will be starting secondary school with us in Year 7.

Becchi Transition Program

Our Becchi Transition program (pronounced ‘becky’) is named after a small village in northern Italy where our patron saint St John Bosco was born and grew up. Just as the town of Becchi was Don Bosco’s home, our idea is that ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ will soon become ‘home’ for your son.
The Becchi Transition Program kicks off with a transition visit to ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ which commences shortly after enrolment offers are made. This transition event includes a range of fun activities for your son and you as parents such as sport, getting to know you activities and informative parenting seminars. The highlight for most of the boys is finding out which house they belong to and what exciting house competitions they can look forward to when they begin Secondary School.

Following the transition visit, our transition program also includes elements such as:

  • Teaching staff visiting your son and his primary school teacher in his Primary School environment
  • Academic Testing Day
  • Family Orientation night
  • First Day of School & Whole School Opening Mass
  • Year 7 Orientation Camp
  • Year 7 Parent Social & Information Evening

The aim of these activities is to give your son opportunities to become familiar with the College grounds, facilities, staff and new peers who will be starting Year 7 with him. Opportunity for interaction between your son and our teaching staff takes place during the academic testing day – a time when we collect valuable information about your son’s strengths and weaknesses to inform Year 7 class composition decisions.
